The Granby Library Association, or GLA, is a small organization that has been working to benefit the Granby community since 1869. You may never have heard of it, but it’s likely you have seen and appreciated some of the projects it has supported. The Children’s Circulation desk, the handy DVD racks and some of the patio furniture in front of the Granby Public Library Main Branch were funded by it. The Deacon’s bench at the Cossitt Library Branch and the E-readers at GPL Main Branch were also made possible by funding provided by the GLA. The Children’s Summer Reading brochures have been its gift to the library for each of the last three years.
Libraries are at the heart of communities. They serve as a safe public place where people can come together. They provide resources and programs and serve a vital role in creating and maintaining a literate and well-informed population.
The GLA’s mission is to provide the libraries with financial support especially for larger ticket items that just won’t fit into the town budget but are critical to the workings of the libraries and the enjoyment of their patrons. For equipment, programs or furnishings that cost more than $1,000, the libraries often turn to the GLA. To continue this, the GLA needs your help.
The GLA welcomes your contribution, large or small, one-time or ongoing. Its endowment fund, invested for long-term growth, was established long ago by a wonderfully generous patron. The money is solely dedicated to the Granby Library System. The GLA is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, and all donations are tax deductible.
